Dear Martin Area Band Families,
Our Martin Area
Grade 7/8 band students have worked hard this year so we are celebrating by
taking them on a well-deserved, one-day spring tour to Yorkton. The trip is
planned for Tuesday, May 14. Students will be performing for McLurg School
before leaving the city. After arriving
in Yorkton, our students will have the opportunity to work with one of the band
directors in the city, Ms. Kelsey Kuz. We will also be going to the Gallagher Centre
for some swim time and eating supper in Yorkton before returning to Regina by
8:30pm. A complete itinerary of our
day’s events will follow shortly.
Cost: The cost per band student
will be $45.00. Payment for this trip
will be set up online as this is the preferred method. If you must send cash or a cheque, please
label with students name and send in a sealed bag/envelope (cheques made
payable to your school). This includes
two charter buses to and from Yorkton, our clinic, Gallagher Centre, and snacks
for the students. Everyone will need to
bring a bag lunch, and money for supper.
***All
money, consent and waiver form, and medical forms are due no later than Monday,
May 6 (full band day).***
Expectations:
Over the next month, students should be
preparing their music for the trip. All
students should be ready to perform all of their music for the school
concerts. We trust our students will be
fine ambassadors for not only our schools but also the city. We expect their performances and behavior to
be exemplary. When traveling with a
large group it is extremely important that each student take responsibility for
being on their best behavior AT ALL TIMES.
Parent Help: We require parents to assist in chaperoning. We especially require parents with a medical background or First Aid training. Regina Public School Board policy requires that all parent volunteers complete a criminal records check (recently changed to Police Information Check, and can now be applied for online). Please let us know as soon as possible if you are free that day and would like to come along!
