Grade 6 Trip Info!

GRADE 6 BAND TRIP!

Dear Martin Area Band Families,

The Grade 6 Band Students will be going on their day trip on Tuesday, May 7, 2019!  They will be performing a concert at Walker School, having a pizza lunch at Lakewood Park (under the gazebo by MacNeill School), going to Nortown Bowling Lanes, and finish the day with a short walk to McDonald’s for ice cream (students will need to bring money if they wish to purchase something from McDonald’s). They will be absent from school from 9:30am until 3:30pm.  The cost is $15 per student which will cover pizza lunch, drink, snacks, bowling, and transportation. Payment for this event will be set up online as this is the preferred method. If you’re not able to pay online, you may bring cash or a cheque (made payable to your school). All cash or cheques should be sealed and labeled with students’ name.

CHAPERONES – we will need at least 3 parents along with us that day to assist with the pizza lunch and bowling! If you are available and would like to come, please email or fill out and return the bottom portion of physical note sent home with students. Remember all parents who chaperone need to have a current Police Information Check (PIC) on file at their school office. You can now apply for a volunteer PIC online via the Regina Police website! Please note that the process of getting a PIC approved from the Police Service, to School Division Office, to your school office can take 3-4 weeks.

FOOD REQUIREMENTS – if your child has allergies or any other food requirements, please let us know so we can look at providing an alternate lunch for them that they can eat.

EXPECTATIONS – over the next few weeks, students should be preparing all of their music in order for successful concerts.  We trust that all of our students will represent our area of the city in the best way possible during all activities.  When traveling with a large group it is extremely important that each student take responsibility for being on their best behaviour.

DUE – Money and permission forms are due no later than Tuesday, April 30.  This is a full band day, so please send with your son/daughter if you’re turning in cash or cheque.

9:30     Bus pick-up at schools

10:45   Concert at Walker School

11:30   Load Bus and head to Lakewood Park

11:45   Pizza lunch at park

1:00     Bowling at Nortown

2:15     Walk to McDonald’s

3:00     Bus pick-up at McDonald’s, return to schools

What to bring:

1) Uniform – red band t-shirt, black pants, black socks, and black shoes.  Please be wearing uniform in the morning. You can bring a change of clothes for later if you wish.

2) Music folder (labeled with your name)

3) Instrument (labeled with your name)

4) Socks to wear for bowling (if you’re wearing sandals that day)

5) Money for a treat at McDonald’s

6) Water bottle

7) Best behavior and positive attitude!
